The Group works alongside Council, landholders and other organizations to encourage sustainable land use as healthy as the maintenance of our different environments. This includes prevention and regulate of erosion, weed control, re vegetation, soil health, grazing, forestry and farm trees and horticulture and well as the spontaneous environment. The local community can access information at Land care’s nursery and at information booths at community events throughout the region. Speakers are available for school and community activities. Field days, workshops and seminars are held regularly throughout the year. Members actively work with neighborhood groups to support bush protection at Messmate Park Kim Ora weed removal and re vegetation of the urban reach of the Mary River piney weed handle and to encourage the community to lend a hand with tree planting and re vegetation activities throughout the region. Sharing experience with other members or linking with technical experts can help you manage your property, improve productivity, strengthen habitat values or re vegetate riparian areas. Members and volunteers operate the nursery (link to nursery page), hoist insects to aid control considerable locally important weeds (link to bio oversee page) and get involved in land and bush caring activities. An elected management committee meets monthly with all members welcome to attend meetings and contribute to decision making.

Gympie and District Land concern Group was first established in 1988 and incorporated in 1991. The group actively encourages local community participation in sustainable land management. Gympie District Land protection helps local landholders manage meaningful weeds with a range of advisory and regulate services and rearing of bio control agents for Cats Claw Creeper and Madeira Vine. Gympie and District Land care Group draws on the experience and training of staff and members to bear a range of specialist land protection services on commercial terms. Services include re vegetation planning and planting, plant propagation, plant and pest identification, weed spraying and pest control, contract growing of tube stock, conservation and land management surveys. From our nursery to ekotek our consulting business unit, to our bio handle unit we present many environmental services. We manage a host of projects and donate a range of training opportunities. Education is a key focus and our annual events calendar creates many opportunities for public participation. A range of planting requisites, habitat boxes and reference books are available from the nursery. The nursery is begin to the public for retail purchases. Stock list is subject to change depending on season. Weeds diminish the productivity of farms, pose health risks to livestock and humans and diminish biodiversity. Insects, mites, fungi) to aid handle and manage weeds. These are carefully researched by the government to ensure we don’t have another cane toad disaster. The Cats Claw Creeper work is currently focused on two other species: a tinged bug and a jewel beetle. Extra insects and a mite for Santana are being trialed but are not yet available for release. The insect rearing facility is closed to the public but arrangements can be made for escorted visits. Insects rarely eradicate a weed infestation, but lessen the vigor of the plants. Insect availability fluctuates with the breeding conditions of the different insects and so cannot be guaranteed on specific supply dates.
